Select 1 Transport wins contracts with GM and Nissan
Select 1 Transport is to handle specialised vehicle transport for General Motors and Nissan North America.
According to Select 1 Transport, this is the first time General Motors has contracted with a new carrier for its North American Engineering vehicle transport needs since 1989.
The company is now responsible for specialised vehicle transport throughout General Motors’ testing facilities in Michigan, Arizona, and Colorado. The deal also involves moving engineering vehicles, test vehicles, and concept vehicles to points around North America as the need arises.
Pat Evo, vice president and general manager of Select 1 Transport, said: “We are extremely excited to begin working with The New GM. I think this contract is indicative of Select 1 Transport’s reputation for handling sensitive transportation needs for the world’s leading automakers.”
Building on an eight-year relationship between the two companies, Nissan North America has retained Select 1 Transport to handle vehicle moves for its North American Technical Centre.
The agreement solidifies Select 1 Transport as the primary carrier for the transportation of engineering, testing, concept and other vehicles for Nissan's North America Technical Centre.
According to Pat Evo, the company moved more than 1,500 specialised vehicles for Nissan throughout the US in 2008. A 99.9% claim free delivery that year as well as outstanding on-time load and delivery record over the past eight years were factors in Nissan's decision to award the new contract to Select 1.
Gary Carlson, president and CEO of Select 1 Transport, said: “Transporting test and concept vehicles requires a highly focused attention to detail. This is a key component to being successful in our industry.”
