As from April 2009 Mazda cars will be transported from Japan to Zeebrugge. After predelivery inspection in Zeebrugge the cars will be shipped to the UK and Ireland. The new traffic accounts for 126,000 units on an annual basis and will generate 80 jobs for ICO. As from December 2008 also Maruti-Suzuki cars will be imported into Zeebrugge. In this respect ICO or International Car Operators (NYK subsidiary) will expand its concession at the Bastogne quay from 56 to 76 ha. Last year ICO handled 1,300,000 new cars of the total volume of 2,210,000 units in Zeebrugge.
