The Fiege Group set a positive signal for the industry with a new supply chain assignment: the logistics company, headquartered in Greven, Westphalia, is reinforcing its tyre logistics segment by taking over all warehousing and distribution operations for the tyre maker Falken Tyre Europe GmbH based in Offenbach, Germany.

Falken Tyre Europe, founded in 2008, is owned by Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., the world's sixth largest tyre manufacturer. Since January 1, 2010 - the starting date of the new business at the Fiege Mega Center Dortmund, which is equipped with an IT system that has been engineered specifically to meet the demands of tyre logistics - Falken Tyre Europe GmbH has been an independent sales company. "Our co-operation with Fiege as a service provider is to help us improve the co-operation with our customers and ensure the reliable and timely supply of products for their regional markets", says Falken's managing director, Isamu Ishida.

The scope of services that Fiege provides for Falken includes incoming customs clearance, warehousing, warehouse management for advertising material and the distribution of products, initially Germany-wide. Numerous value added services complement the range of services.

The product line-up of Falken Tyre in Dortmund includes tyres for passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and busses as well as off-road, winter and truck tyres, all of which are stored, picked and dispatched from the Fiege's cutting-edge Mega Center Dortmund.
