Costantino Baldissara is ECG’s ‘Acting President’
After more than 12 years of dedication to the development and growth of ECG, Frits Mehrtens has left his active involvement in the day-by-day life of the association of which he has been one of the founders and, until February 28, 2009, the President.
ECG is the Association of European Vehicle Logistics, bringing together 100 leading logistics operators from 24 countries in the European Union, Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.
Effective March 1, 2009 Mr. Mehrtens left Broekman Automotive, the Rotterdam-based ECG member he had worked at for 20 years, to continue his career at a non-ECG member company. According to the statutes of ECG, this meant that he had to step down automatically from the position of President of the association.
Frits Mehrtens was one of the founders of ECG and a board member since inception. In 2005 he became Vice-President and was subsequently elected President in May 2007 at the ECG General Assembly held in London.
While expressing thanks to Mr. Mehrtens for his passion and dedication to the association and wishing him all the success for his new working life as Business Development Director at Greencat, the IT company part of the Gorinchem, Netherlands based Groeneveld Group, the ECG board has asked Mr. Mehrtens to remain close to the association by accepting the role of “President without mandate” for the remaining period up to the forthcoming General Assembly that will be held on June 5 in Zurich, where a new President will be voted in by the members.
Meanwhile, according to the ECG Statutes, the President role will be filled on an ad-interim basis by Vice President Costantino Baldissara, who until the General Assembly will be “Acting President”.
