Cat Logistics warehouse in Breda receives award of safest warehouse in the Netherlands
Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT), announces that its warehouse in Breda was awarded the title of safest warehouse in the Netherlands by BMWT, Randstad, VTL and Transport + Opslag. The 10,000-square meter Breda facility is dedicated to providing logistics services to SsangYong Motor of Korea, a premier manufacturer of sports utility and recreational vehicles for more than five decades. Cat Logistics runs the auto manufacturer’s European parts distribution center supporting parts distributors in more than 20 countries in Europe.
To evaluate the candidates for this prestigious Safest Warehouse of the Netherlands award, the jury that was presided by professor Rene de Koster of the Erasmus University of Rotterdam looked at a number of criteria, including safety on the shop floor, safety awareness of employees, ergonomics, working climate and efficiency. Cat Logistics employees were recognized for their discipline, housekeeping and creativity. Cat Logistics succeeds DHL and Intel, who won the award in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
“Workplace safety is our top priority,” said Steve Larson, vice president of Caterpillar Inc., chairman and president of Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc. “It’s great to see our Breda team receive recognition for their outstanding work in creating a ‘Safety First’ culture in their facility.”
“Obtaining this title was not easy with so many warehouses located in the Netherlands,” said Filip Robyns, facility manager in Breda. “The motivation of our team has been excellent, enabling not only a safe working environment, but one that also helps us achieve our quality and productivity goals.”
The award presentation ceremony takes place on November 12 at 2p.m., shortly after award announcement in Amsterdam on October 28.
